Holiday Events in Ormond Beach
The holidays are quickly approaching and getting in the spirit is easy and simple….just add to your calendar some of the wonderful holiday events offered by the City of Ormond Beach.

There are numerous opportunities throughout the month of December, beginning with the three-day Christmas Gala beginning on December 2nd at The Casements, located at 25 Riverside Drive.

After the Gateway’s emplyees were on strike for the longest time, their new contract have finally been settled. From that point on, a walk through history at the Christmas Gala, joyful noises, free concerts, and the always exciting HOme for the HOlidays parade “Holiday Illuminations” was confirmed to happen. There will be a festive array of ornate Christmas trees and breakfast with Santa. These are just some of the fun things that await citizens and visitors.

Some of the events that will be taking place this holiday season are:

CHRISTMAS GALA: The 32nd annual event “Deck the Halls!” presented by The Casements Guild is a three-day event full of holiday festivities starting on December 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. with the lighting up of The Casements when the house will come alive with festive holiday decorations and memorable holiday music. The doors will open and the public can enjoy all of the wonderful holiday decorations, see the tree gallery, visit vendors displaying homemade items for sale and take home a treat from the holiday gourmet shop. The Gala will also feature carriage rides up Riverside Drive, an outdoor café, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and of course a visit from Mr. Rockefeller.

The Gala will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Tickets are on sale. Adult admission is $5.00 and children under 12 are $1.00. For additional information, please call The Casements at (386) 676-3216.

21st ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARADE: On December 10th, kids of all ages will line up early to experience one of the season’s greatest highlights which will start at 6:30 p.m. The theme of the 21st annual parade is “Holiday Illuminations,” and this will be the 9th time the parade has been held in the evening. Festive floats, bands, decorated vehicles and walkers will begin the 1.5 mile route at Yonge Street (US1) and Division Avenue. They will move north to Granada Boulevard (SR40) and then turn east to South Beach Street. Next, a right turn will take them a short distance to Tomoka Avenue. Here it is a right turn and just beyond the Library, a turn is made into the City and Library parking lot where the participants will disband. HOLIDAYS AT THE CASEMENTS: On Thursday, December 15th a free concert featuring “The Moonlighters Orchestra,” a talented group of musicians directed by Dr. Joseph Mirante, will be performing at the 6th annual “Holidays at The Casements.” The open house begins at 5:30 p.m. with the holiday concert and dessert social beginning at 6:45 p.m. with chairs arranged in the North Lawn of The Casements for this special concert.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA: From 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17th, happy kids will not only surround Santa at The Casements, they can have breakfast with him as well! There will be three seatings, 8:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. which will each accommodate up to 80 diners. Advance tickets are required. Pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and hot chocolate will be served. Brian Daly will be flipping the pancakes as chief cook. Breakfast with Santa is sponsored by Color Wheel Paint.

The program will also include stories by Mrs. Santa, face painting and other activities for those who share the anticipation of Christmas. This is great time to bring a camera to capture the memories with Santa and the beautiful holiday decorations at this historic, former Rockefeller home. Tickets are $5.00.
