Fall Season Brings Host of Outdoor Events to the Daytona Beach Area

Goodbye Summer and Hello Fall!

The departure of summer and its seemingly unbearable humidity means the arrival of fall with its cool breezes and lower temperatures. Although the long days of summer will be missed, fall is always a welcomed change. Many people around the Greater Daytona Beach Halifax Area are beginning to make the transition from shorts to pants and sandals to sneakers in preparation for the refreshing lower temperatures that locals and visitors enjoy this time of year.

However, the changing temperature does not necessitate a decrease in the number of local outdoor activities that are available for everyone to enjoy. It may be cooler outside, but the fun doesn’t end with the summer in the Greater Daytona Beach Halifax Area.

If it is art and culture you enjoy, then the greater Halifax area has plenty to offer in November. Beginning this weekend, November 5th – 6th, the Halifax River Art Festival will be a must-see for everyone in the area. Various artists proudly present their artwork along Beach Street in Downtown Daytona Beach, The charms and attractions that Beach Street has to offer, including its many restaurants and the Halifax Historical Museum, are an added bonus to the beautiful artwork that you’ll be able to view while strolling the venue.

The following weekend, The Annual Greek Festival located at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Halifax Avenue in Daytona Beach is sure to please and it runs through the entire weekend from November 10th – 13th. This year is the 35th year of the festival which is full of exciting dancing and tasty Greek foods.

Another event you’ll want to put on your calendar is Riverfest in Ormond Beach. Located at the Rockefeller Gardens on the South East side of the Granada bridge, the festival takes place November 19th- 20th. Riverfest, sponsored by Ormond Beach Mainstreet, is a large festival where you can enjoy a beer or a glass of wine while listening to many of the 30 different bands that will be performing during the two-day event. There is also a variety of great restaurants and shops to check out along Granada Boulevard just adjacent to Rockefeller Gardens. The festival features a Children’s Corner and many other activities for the entire family to enjoy.

Just around the corner from the Rockefeller Gardens, the Ormond Beach Memorial Art Museum is featuring the paintings of local artist, Beatrice Ehringer from Nov. 11th – Nov. 28th. Back in Daytona Beach, The Munich Symphony Orchestra will be performing November 18th at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach. The Peabody Auditorium will also be presenting the widely popular musical My Fair Lady on November 22nd.

The Greater Daytona Beach Halifax area knows how to celebrate the Thanksgiving season right with its annual Turkey Rod Run, an event that takes place every year the days before, during and after Thanksgiving. During this event, custom cars and hot rods from are displayed at the Bellaire Shopping Center on Atlantic Avenue and at the Daytona International Speedway for the crowd of spectators to enjoy. You don’t have to love cars to enjoy the show. This is an event for everyone.
